US top seed Taylor Fritz advanced to the fourth round of the ATP Masters 1000 Cincinnati. The world number four won by 2-0 (7:6(4), 7:5) against Lorenzo Sonego (Italy). Taylor Fritz hit 13 aces, made 25 winners and didn’t give Lorenzo Sonego a single break point in the match.
In the next round, Taylor Fritz will face the French qualifier Terence Atmane, who eliminated Brazilian player Joao Fonsecaby 2-0 (6:3, 6:4) in just 79 minutes of play. Before this week, Terence Atmane, ranked 136th in the world, had only won one ATP main draw match since the start of 2025.
Another of the evening’s surprises also came from a Frenchman. This was done by Benjamin Bonzi, who eliminated former world’s number three and 25th-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas after 2-1 (6:7(4), 6:3, 6:4). Benjamin Bonzi made one break in each of the three sets, and only in the first set Stefanos Tsitsipas find an answer and managed to win it after a tiebreak.
In the fourth round, Benjamin Bonzi will face the 23rd-seeded Felix Auger Aliassime (Canada), who qualified after retiring of another Frenchman – Arthur Rinderknech in second set at 1-0 (7:6, 4:2).
