This year’s Australian Open champion Madison Keys has comfortably advanced to the fourth round of the WTA 1000 Cincinnati Open. The American tennis player defeated world number 94 Aoi Ito (Japan) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:0) in just 63 minutes. The match started with a break for Madison Keys, but Aoi Ito immediately returned it and she even took a momentary 2:1 lead.
However, the Japanese player’s strength was not enough and Madison Keys in turn made a turnaround to lead 5:2 in the first set. Until the end, the match was completely under the control of the sixth-seeded Madison Keys, who will face the ninth-seeded Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan) in the next round.
The former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina advanced to the third round after 2-1 (4:6, 6:3, 7:5) against Elise Mertens (Belgium) in one of the most quality matches in this phase. For Elena Rybakina, this is the sixth victory in seven matches with Elise Mertens, but the first in which she makes a turnaround after losing the opening set.
