Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz won the title of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Monte Carlo for the first time in his career. In the final, he defeated Lorenzo Musetti (Italy) by 2-1 (3:6, 6:1, 6:0) in an hour and 46 minutes. Thus, Carlos Alcaraz won the 18th title of his career and the third of tournaments in this category on clay.
Unfortunately for tennis fans, however, the intrigue in the match disappeared somewhere in the second set. In the first Lorenzo Musetti, who reached the final of a ATP Masters 1000 tournament for the first time, showed excellent tennis. The Italian won four games in a row to lead 4:1 and close the opening part after 42 minutes on the court.
However, Carlos Alcaraz became much more aggressive in his play at the beginning of the second set and quickly started to accumulate games on his account. At that moment, it became clear that Lorenzo Musetti also had physical problems that limited his performance. The Roland Garros champion took the second set 6:1, and in the third set he did not give a game to his opponent, with Lorenzo Musetti taking only four points in total in the final five games.
The victory adds 1000 points to Carlos Alcaraz assets and from tomorrow he will be number two in the world rankings. Lorenzo Musetti will also progress in it, climbing five places to 11th.
