The world’s number two Carlos Alcaraz made a successful start to his participation in the ATP Masters 1000 Cincinnati.
The Spanish tennis player, for whom this was the first match on hard court since losing the final of Wimbledon about a month ago, managed to win by 2-1 (6:1, 2:6, 6:3) against Bosnian tennis player Damir Dzumhur in a match of the second round.
Carlos Alcaraz took the first set in just 29 minutes, in which he won the last six games, but the roles were reversed in the second set of the match, in which Damir Dzumhur took five consecutive games to equalize after 6:2. Thus, exactly an hour after the start, the two tennis players entered a decisive third set.
In it, the winner of five Grand Slam titles hinted at the potential he has. The Spaniard led the game from the very beginning and after 6:3 he congratulated himself with the victory.
In the next round, Carlos Alcaraz will face Hamad Medjedovic (Serbia), who shocked Tallon Griekspoor (Netherlands) after 2-0 (6:4, 7:6).
