A nice, easy practice. That was all Jannik Sinner needed in the first round of the US Open. The ATP number one has dispelled any doubts about his health with an easy start to the year’s final Grand Slam tournament. He recorded an extremely easy victory over Czech tennis player Vit Kopriva, allowing him to win just four games in the entire match – 3-0 (6:1, 6:1, 6:2).
Against Vit Kopriva, the Italian tennis star moved with ease, played practically a more intense practice and was never in danger.
In the first set, Vit Kopriva did not record a single ace, but made five double faults. He may have been trying to hit harder to compete with Jannik Sinner, but the Czech simply did not have the necessary power. His serves were at a speed of about 160 km/h, which is much slower than most players on the tour.
The second set was not much different and again Jannik Sinner won it almost in a row with the same result – 6:1.
In the third set, Vit Kopriva put up a little more resistance, winning two games instead of one, but was again swept 6:2, which put an end to the dispute in favor of Jannik Sinner.
However, the world’s number one is expected to have more difficulties in the second round, where he will face Alexei Popyrin (Australia). The Australian was in the top 20 of the rankings and defeated Jannik Sinner in their only meeting so far. However, that was in 2021. A lot has changed since then, including the fact that Jannik Sinner has won four Grand Slam titles.
